• Introduction to Excel

    This course is an excellent introduction to Excel and is designed for novice users. The course is 2 days in duration and participants will learn the basics of file management, how to navigate in Excel, create spreadsheets and how to create basic (but invaluable) formula. Participants will differentiate between absolute and relative cell references and will be introduced to practices to reduce spreadsheet errors. Participants must have laptops with Excel.   • Budgeting Basics Using Excel

    This course is designed to provide the essentials of budgeting using Excel. Instruction is provided in various types and uses of budgets and cash flow projects. In addition, Excel is utilized to create the budgets; participants will learn how to use formulae and linked spreadsheets to create accurate budgets and timesheets in a timely fashion, with minimal errors.   • Effective Workplace Communication

    This two day course is about how to effectively communicate in the workplace. Topics include written and spoken communication, using emails to communicate and common problems and challenges with effective communication. Participants will practice skills by writing memos based on community oriented case studies. Optional reference guides may be provided.   • Structured Problem Solving

    This workshop may be offered in either a two day or four day format. The course will lead participants through a multi-step process to identify and understand problems and the root causes. The course will assist participants to develop effective solutions to their identified problems and will apply various approaches to rank solutions in order of most practical. The course is ideal for a team as the approach utilizes group activities to develop solutions. Strategies for complex problems are also discussed (in the 4 day session).   • GMAT

    The Governance and Management Assessment Tool is invaluable to First Nations in conducting a self assessment on eleven critical factors that provide insights on their governance and management practices. This 2 day course reviews the eleven critical factors and participants will create an assesmment of their community or organization based on the tool.
