Introduction to the fundamentals of accounting.

Introduction to Accounting, AFOA AB Learning Center, Edmonton, AB. This 4 day accounting course is designed  for those working in the accounting area who need a refresher or greater understanding of the overall accounting process and for managers and senior staff who work with finance or accounting staff. This course is ideal if you are planning to take CAFM 1, Accounting Fundamentals. The course is based on material developed by a leading Canadian business school.  The material will cover; overview of basic financial accounting statements, the balance sheet, the income statement and the cashflow statement. In addition, the principles of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) will be introduced. The complete accounting cycle will be reviewed as well as more advanced topics such as depreciation, goodwill, leases and retained earnings. Basic finance concepts will be introduced including basic cost, revenue and volume information for long range planning. This course is an ideal introduction to accounting. Please note, this course is not suitable if you have taken an introductory accounting level at the post secondary level. The cost for this program is $300.00 for members and $475.00 for non members. A certificate of completion will be provided to those who attend and complete the program. Maximum number of participants is 25. Lunch is provided. Sessions start at 9:00 am.

Processes financial transactions in accordance with accepted accounting concepts, principles and standards (TF-CAFM-T1-1.1)

Documents, verifies and maintains supporting information for transactions and events (TF-CAFM-T1-1.6)

Plans for financial resource allocation. (GM-CAFM-G3-8.3)
